Apprentices go to Contest!

On Saturday, March 6th, 2010, several sheet metal workers donated their time and talents to help Boy Scout Troop # 662 complete their merit badge requirements at the Sheet Metal Training School.  Boy Scout Troop # 662 was assisted by full time apprentice instructor and metal working merit badge counselor, Ed Kasper.  Ed received help with the requirements for the metal working merit badge by fellow instructors, Billy Crow and Tom Walsh.  Special thanks to Billy's son, Billy Crow Jr., an apprentice, who also helped with the Saturday activities.

The Unified Apprenticeship Contest is a joint Labor/Management effort that brings apprentices together from all parts of the United States and Canada to showcase the high skill level expected of union members of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Industry.  This year's apprenticeship contest was conducted both at Sheet Metal Workers LU # 88 Training Facility and at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.  St Louis was represented by apprentices, Charlie Tabing (HVAC), Brett Moeller (Architectural), Grason Little (Industrial), Doug Ratley (TAB) and Dustin Walker (Service).  The St. Louis JATC is very proud of all our contestants and especially Brett Moeller who took 5th place in the Architectural category and Dustin Walker who finished first place in the Service category.
