St. Louis 20,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art training facility offering curriculum on every aspect of the
sheet metal industry. The Joint Apprenticeship Training School is a
collaborative effort between the St. Louis contractors and Local 36.

International Training Institute
Opportunity through education and technology. ITI provides a number of opportunities to
union members in the sheet metal and air conditioning industry. They
develop curriculum for journeyman and apprentice training programs,

Sheet Metal Occupational Health Trust
SMOHIT is a Joint Labor Management Trust whose mission is to provide industry leading health and
safety solutions that will minimize illness and injuries in the sheet metal industry.
SMOHIT serves over 123,000 sheet metal workers and 4,500 contractors.
HVAC Expertise
A 75-year-old partnership based on the mutual goal of delivering quality heating,
ventilating and air conditioning systems and sheet metal applications
using skilled, trained, craft workers.
National Energy Management Institute
NEMI is a not-for-profit organization created in 1981 by the Sheet Metal Workers (SMWIA) and the
Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association
(SMACNA).
Testing Adjusting and Balancing Bureau (TABB)
TABB runs the TAB (testing, adjusting and balancing) education and certification program, which ensures that HVAC
systems operate at the highest standards and with the greatest
efficiency and effectiveness at every stage of an indoor environment
retrofit or new building specification.
Architectural Sheet Metal Initiative
Architectural Metal Expertise contractors provide the greatest range of

Sheet Metal Workers Youth To Youth Program
The local 36 Youth to Youth initiative is a community service program that reaches out to
young men, women and minorities by promoting the sheet metal industry as
a career choice during High School career days, job fairs and industry
events.

National Center For Energy Management and Building Technologies
The National Center for Energy Management and Building Technologies is an
independent, research institution that participates in standard setting,
advances technical training and professional education, and serves as a
repository of information on economic, technical, and public policy
issues. The National Center acts as a resource to Federal agencies,
state and local governments, building owners, the HVAC industry and
consumers.
